I mastered the EP “Straw Man” by Barcelona-based Scottish artist Calum Busby, which was released in December 2022. This project showcases a harmonious blend of intricate melodies and thought-provoking lyrics that reflect Calum’s unique artistic vision. The album was produced by Theo Monteillet, whose expertise in sound engineering is evident throughout the tracks. It was mixed at Sol de Sants Studios (Barcelona, Spain), a renowned studio known for its state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant atmosphere that fosters creativity. The collaborative effort between Calum and Theo has resulted in a polished and captivating EP that resonates with listeners, drawing them into the rich soundscape that is both innovative and deeply personal.
“Calum Busby is a songwriter and performer from Edinburgh, Scotland based in Barcelona. Calum blends his Celtic Indie Rock stylings with a scathing wit that takes a self-deprecating sideways glance at current social issues and the quirky contradictions that often inhabit them. His songs are full of passion and vulnerability, often bouncing from moments of raucous intensity to dulcet tranquility in just a strum of the guitar. Calum’s influences are rooted in the genres of Alternative Indie Rock and Folk. The EP consists of 4 tracks, revolving around the main single “Straw Man,” accompanied by other intimate demo songs.
