I mastered the EP “Terra Mote” from the Portuguese project Lagarto Trio. The album, rich with intricate soundscapes, was released by Natural Groove Records in November 2024.
Recorded at Estúdio Cedofeita, this captivating project was produced collaboratively by João Freitas, Gabriel Valente, and Lagarto Trio. The mixing process was primarily handled by Gabriel Valente, ensuring that each instrument’s unique sound was highlighted, creating a harmonious blend that is characteristic of this trio.
According to the description on the Natural Groove Records website, “Terra Mote” features a unique combination of talents, with Rita Carreiras on viola d’arco, Geraldo Gomes contributing rich layers with the cello, and Renato Oliveira introducing evocative textures with the didgeridoo. This eclectic instrumentation crafts a cinematic audio experience full of scenic landscapes, vibrant colors, and deep emotional resonance.
LAGARTO’s music is described as a journey into the realms of classical music, drawing inspiration from the esteemed Portuguese composer Joly Braga Santos. However, it does more than just pay homage; the trio focuses on original compositions that blend various styles seamlessly. Their music allows listeners to pause and reflect in the quiet moments, evoking feelings of time standing still as they navigate through a tapestry of sound. Whether exploring themes of nature or human emotion, “Terra Mote” invites listeners to immerse themselves fully in the enchanting world created by the fusion of these three diverse instruments.
