FOH Engineer Insights: Quartet Quatuor Concert Experience

I was the FOH engineer for the live concert of Quartet Quatuor at Casa da Música on March 18, 2025.

“Quatuor Agate is one of this season’s ECHO Rising Stars, chosen by Europe’s leading concert halls. It was formed in 2016 and has already won awards at various international competitions and festivals. He presents a program that brings together the music and stories of artists considered to be “outside the law”, due to their distance from the musical or social norms of their time. Carlo Gesualdo, 16th century composer, prince and murderer; Ethel Smyth, a 20th century English composer, feminist and openly lesbian, imprisoned for her activism; Chostakovich and his conflicts with the artistic doctrine of the Soviet regime. Whether they were murderers or insurgents, imprisoned or censored, they all had to answer for their actions or opinions. The writings of authors such as Aldous Huxley, Julian Barnes and Jean Genet, inspired by these fascinating lives, form the narrative substance that accompanies the masterpieces presented here.”
