My Role as a Live Sound Engineer

Since January 2023, I’ve been working regularly as a live sound engineer at Casa da Música and other venues, covering everything from concerts and conferences to corporate events. That means setting up and testing equipment, mixing during performances, and working closely with artists and organizers to make sure the sound serves the moment. You can read more about these projects in the live sound section of the website.

Before that, from January to September 2022, I was a full-time Technical Production Intern at Casa da Música — which is where a lot of the foundation was built. During that time I was responsible for recording, mixing, and mastering for the in-house digital archive and streaming events, quality control of audio and video content, and the technical production of live performances.

Over that period, I recorded, mixed, and mastered more than 60 concerts by the venue’s resident ensembles — the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, Remix Ensemble, Orquestra Barroca, Coro Casa da Música, and Serviço Educativo — mostly in Sala Suggia, working alongside renowned conductors like Stefan Blunier, Peter Rundel, Vassily Sinaisky, and Giordano Bellincampi, among others. I also handled recording and post-production for corporate events and international competitions, including the Santa Cecília International Competition.

Beyond the main hall, I recorded outdoor concerts at locations like Serralves and Praça Guilhermina Suggia, managing live setups of over 100 tracks for artists including the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto and the iconic Portuguese rock band GNR.
